MAPLE VALLEY - A 37-year-old man was charged Monday
with felony hit-and-run in an accident that killed a three-year-old
boy last week in Maple Valley, southeast of Seattle.
Timothy Lee Herbert, a pizza delivery driver from Maple Valley,
is accused of striking and killing Alex Hubbard after the youngster
walked out of his house in his pajamas last Wednesday night.
The King County sheriff's office says one driver saw the boy in
the road, stopped and was trying to alert an oncoming car when it
struck the boy. The car then left the scene.
The sheriff's office says Herbert was arrested the next day
after the office received information from his co-workers that an
upset Herbert had told them he hit something with his car.
The sheriff's office says Herbert also told co-workers and a
deputy that he had been drinking before the accident.
Herbert's arraignment is scheduled for June 29th. If convicted,
he would face a standard sentencing range of 31 to 41 months in
prison.
