KENT - A man arrested for investigation in the
deaths of three people and the wounding of three others in a Skyway
shooting was ordered held on $1 million bail Friday.
Dimitri Sidorchuk, 23, and a friend, William Shane Belk, opened
fire on a stranger's car in Sidorchuk's driveway following an
argument early Thursday, according to a probable cause statement
filed in King County Superior Court. Sidorchuk fired at least 20
shots, one of which struck and killed Belk, the statement said.
Two of the five young men in the car were killed, and the other
three were injured. The two dead were identified by the King County
medical examiner's office as Souatha Nhem, 23, and Sophea Sun, 20.
According to the probable cause statement, Nhem began arguing or
fighting with Sidorchuk and Belk in the driveway at about 1 a.m.
Thursday. He left, and came back driving a 1990 Toyota Corolla with
his friends inside.
The groups began arguing, and then Nhem suddenly reversed the
car up the driveway, striking Belk and doubling him over, the
statement said; Belk and Sidorchuk began firing.
Those in the car were all unarmed, and the wounded were expected
to survive, sheriff's Sgt. John Urquhart said Friday. The car left
the driveway and crashed into a nearby building, where it caught
fire.
Inside Sidorchuk's home, detectives found a marijuana grow
operation, Urquhart said.
The King County prosecutor's office said it expects to file
charges by Tuesday.
The Skyway area is near Renton, south of Seattle.
