FIFE - Brown Bear Car Wash is asking for your help and offering a $5,000 reward in tracking down dozens of life-size bronze bear statues that were stolen from their Fife warehouse.

A company spokesperson says 40 bears were stolen sometime either Wednesday or Thursday evening from the warehouse on 5319 20th Street East.

Each bear weighs about 125 pounds and are around 2 feet tall. The combined weight is 2 1/2 tons and they're concerned they are being taken to a smelter to be melted down and sold.

"We would appreciate any information that would lead to the culprits being apprehended and the bears being returned intact," said Vic Odermat, CEO and president of Car Wash Enterprises.

The bears are custom made for the company in Thailand to resemble brown bear cubs -- the same ones that are on display at many Brown Bear car wash locations. All told, the stolen statues are worth about $30,000.

Brown Bear is offering a $5,000 reward to anyone with information that will lead to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for this crime.

If anyone has information on this crime they are asked to call the Fife Police Department at (253) 922-6633.
