SEATTLE - Life is tough sometimes.
What irks me is when someone makes it tougher than it has to be. Hence, "The Schrammie."
This week, the bobble-head is bouncing over to Raymond.
That's where I found a landlord without a heart; a landlord willing to kick a little old lady to the curb simply for doing some impromptu landscaping.
So, Heather Vial, come on down!
Heather is the villain in this particular tale after having decided she needs to evict a senior citizen who was just worried about her safety.
Seems the rhododendrons out side Edith Ralston's window had grown so big that she really couldn't see outside; couldn't tell if someone was lurking there.
So, like she's done several times before, 78-year-old Edith got her shears and pruned the rohodies.
Well, an indignant Heather didn't give a hoot about what Edith has done before.
This time, Heather notified Edith that if Edith didn't go out and buy new, giant-sized rhodies to replace the ones that had been "defaced," Edith would be kicked out; evicted; the big boot.
Edith says the rhodies will grow back (like they always have) and that she's not about to go out and buy expensive new ones.
Besides, there's still Edith's safey and piece of mind since big bushes would just block her window again.
The landlord essentially says 'tough.'
That leaves Edith about a week away from being out on the street.
I think it takes a special kind of person to throw a little old lady out of her home.
Heather Vial, you are that kind of person.
So: Take a bow.
This "Schrammie's" for you.
