The Dave Matthews Band will hit the road for a 40-stop tour of the United States this summer, including their traditional three-night engagement at the Gorge Ampitheater in Eastern Washington. The tour will focus on the band's expansive career of recording, and include an acoustic set of older songs.

Called "A Very Special Evening With Dave Matthews Band," each performance will include two sets, and will highlight a variety of artists, including guitarist Tim Reynolds.

"Our shows are loose, but we started thinking that maybe this summer we should make them looser and bring some of that feeling to the stage. It seems like the opposite of a safe plan, so why not?" Matthews said in a statement, adding that "it's how we started," referencing when he used to play in his mother's basement.

Tickets for all engagements except the Gorge go on sale February 7.
