The Puget Sound is home to plenty of great museums, but the price of admission can sometimes keep potential visitors away. This weekend, though, the Smithsonian is helping cover the cost with Museum Day Live!, which waives the cost of dozens of museums, including the EMP, MOHAI and the Seattle Arm Museum.

Partnering with museums around the country, the Smithsonian provides a free ticket for one visitor and one guest. Museum-goers can then pick any one of the participating museums and gain free entry. Participating museums in the region run the gamut, from the Museum of Glass and the Children's Museum in Tacoma to the State Capitol Museum in Olympia.

The idea was inspired by the official Smithsonian museums, which are always free to enter.

Nationwide, over 1,500 museums are participating.

Museum Day Live! is Saturday, September 28. Find a full list of participating museums and print off your ticket here
