2 SC Boeing employees appeal case against union
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Two employees at South Carolina's Boeing plant have appealed their complaint against the International Association of Machinists.
The National Right to Work Foundation said Tuesday that Dennis Murray and Cynthia Ramaker had filed an appeal with the National Labor Relations Board.
Murray and Ramaker initially filed a complaint in December, saying the Machinists had retaliated against workers at the non-union plant in North Charleston. The NLRB dismissed that complaint in July.
Last year, the NLRB dropped a lawsuit against Boeing after the Machinists approved a four-year contract extension with the aircraft manufacturer. The NLRB lawsuit said Boeing broke labor laws when it opened a North Charleston production line, punishing unionized workers in Washington state for past strikes.
Boeing said it needed the South Carolina plant for valid economic reasons.

so many union hating idiots around here! im just sure why they just don't move to the non-unionized east coast .
If it wasn't for unions I doubt jobs with benefits would even exist.
Â
Remember, pure, unrestrained capitalism in it's natural form is all about competition. With that in mind you can't sustain the same level of income/overhead because your competitors will always strive to find a way to undercut your pricing, which leads to a constant race to the bottom. This is why we have few full-time jobs anymore and why most high-paying jobs are now being outsourced within our own country to temp agencies and contractors who get pennies on the dollar. Wake up people, the corporations consider you to be food.
Is there a reason for such poor reporting?
Â
What is the nature of the incident that caused the initial complaint? What do these two people claim was done to them?
I'm so glad I don't have a union to answer to nor take my hard earned money as dues. I'm proud to say I got there on my own without the  union mob boss telling me what to do and how much I can make, let alone breaking my legs for bunking the system.Â
@ObsidianOne One more thing - the medical procedure was not to set my "broken legs" LOL!!
@ObsidianOne  I'm glad you don't too, cuz I got your place and when I had a medical procedure that cost $16,000 last year I only had 2 $10.00 co-pays. Thanks for leaving the union job with benefits for me!!
@Linda32 -- I smell BS.
 @Bianca  @Linda32 Or a government employee with cadillac benefits (exempted from Obamacare restrictions, too)
@Linda32 That's not TRUE just for Union workers...I have great benefits where I work...Had a bill alot larger than that and didn't pay anything...so there...UNIONS SUCK and I agree with Obsidian that if you can't get there on your own then there's a problem. I am in a professional environment and don't need anybody helping or watching out for me....I am an adult and can take care of myself. Unions remind of being back in grade school...better watch out for cuz they can't take care of themselves. So once again Unions are NOT the only ones who provide great benefits...
 @Whocares  @Linda32 it's clear that you have no idea what you're talking about. "unions sucks", "grade school"? where do you get these from? you did this on your own huh? what do you even do for work? it's not about people taking care of themselves it's about their employer taking care of them, paying them what they're worth in a multi-billion dollar company. I used to work for Fedex and I made less than $16 an hour. you think they make a lot in profits? come on now. don't be stupid, pay attention
 @Whocares  @Linda32 If it weren't for the pressure brought about by UNION benefits no non-union employer would offer anything close to equal benefits.
Expecting the NLRB to impartially rule on a non-union worker's complaint is rather like expecting Christmas presents from Santa. Just a fairy tale.Â
Â
Have to wait until the commission is reconstituted after the 2012 elections.
Good because they are paid less WA. Equal pay for equal work.
 @Commonsense So then if that's your logic, shouldn't we actually be getting paid Chinese wages? After all, they build planes over there too, serve fast food there too, manufacture cars too, sell groceries too, and even do road/house/commercial construction as well. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Boeing (or any other company) would LOVE to only pay the equal, lowest wages and benefits. So with that said, let's make sure this "rule" applies across the board. That includes your job as well.Â
Â
Hey you said it "Equal pay for equal work". Afterall, as your name states, it's "common sense"...
 @Warthog Airbus already has a plant in China. It's just a matter of time.Â
 @Commonsense Too bad the cost of living in Washington much higher than in SC which means SC workers pay is equal to that of WA workers.Â
I would think they would be paying the SC workers much less than WA. Otherwise what's the point of building a plant there if not to save money.
 @mstipton They get all sorts of goodies and tax breaks from the state there, the cheaper labor is just icing on the cake.Â
@Commonsense ?????
