Boeing delivered 601 planes last year

CHICAGO (AP) - Boeing Co. says it delivered 601 planes last year, putting it on track to beat European rival Airbus as the top plane maker for the year.
Airbus has beaten Boeing in deliveries in recent years, but Boeing is now cranking out its new 787 and a revamped 747 after delays for both aircraft.
Boeing also says it booked orders for 1,203 commercial jets. It was helped by strong demand for its revamped 737, called the Max. Boeing is still making the current version of the plane and aims to begin delivering the Max in 2017.
Airbus has not reported full-year orders and deliveries yet. Through November, it had booked orders for 585 planes and delivered 516.
Boeing shares rose 76 cents to $77.83 in afternoon trading.

Boeing is one of the last good stories to tell the grand children about US Manufacturing (OK Assembly) that the great USA stumbles over itself each day. It is survival...just not engineers, not recieving the pat on the back but of team players, from big players like Senator Maria Cantwell to the small player that has no name.  This is global competition that the USA needs companies like Boieng to correct our trade imbalances, create US jobs and lead into the next generation of global invention.Â
Think of all the countries in the world that cannot wait for opportunities to grab market share from them...

Well isn't that nice. If not for the engineers and technicians I wonder if that high watermark could have been achieved? I doubt it. Play fair Boeing. You like being a leader in aerospace then act like a leader and show those employees that make it possible for you to be so successful in the aerospace business some respect.
@left-center Last time I looked no one had to work there that didn't want to.
@livinintheNW Very true. I could retire today. But here is the rub: having worked for Boeing 34 years and negotiating in good faith (via SPEEA) the Company has presented a plan to change the way it will provide retirement benefits. The most effected by this new direction will be the younger engineers and newly hired engineers. If the Prof Unit allows these changes in this years contract who will stop Boeing from further changing the already negotiated retirement benefit in later contracts?
Thanks LC!
