Nike makes bid to equip German national team
FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) - Word out of Germany is that Nike has offered to supply equipment to the German national soccer team.

Nike rival Adidas, which is based in Germany, has been supplying the German team with outfits since 1954.

Earlier this year, the German players were allowed to use shoes supplied by their personal sponsors.

The German soccer federation put out a statement calling the offer, to use its words, "commercially very interesting."

But no details were released.

Nike is based in Beaverton and is the world's largest maker of athletic apparel.
