Ecuador offers subsidized fuel for flights

QUITO, Ecuador (AP) - Ecuador's president is offering a temptation for airlines that schedule routes to his country: cheap fuel.
Rafael Correa says the government will offer a 40 percent reduction in fuel prices for direct routes to and from cities such as Los Angeles, Vancouver, Frankfurt or Rome.
He said in a regular weekly broadcast Saturday the benefit would last for five years and airline would have to promise to fly at least three times a week, but did not go into details.
Correa says the aim is to improve connections, productivity, tourism and education in the country.

Yes, fly to Ecuador on free gas, and then pay a huge tax on landing fees and possible expropriation of your aircraft. Gotta love communist countries.Â
@GeorgeG. Communist country? I don't think so, Ecuador is governed by a democratically elected President, for a four year term. The current president of Ecuador, Rafael Correa, exercises his power from the presidential Palacio de Carondelet in Quito. The current constitution was written by the Ecuadorian Constituent Assembly elected in 2007, and was approved by referendum in 2008. Since 1936, voting is compulsory for all literate persons aged 18-65, optional for all other citizens.
Â
In terms of communism I'd say you missed the mark. In terms of economy, Ecuador had a GDP growth rate ranking of 48 And the US ranking was clear down there at number 156th out of 185. What do you think of the lack luster economic performance of the US with its free market?
Â
Speaking of communism, can you even name a communist system that is in place currently in the world?
Â
A friend of mine flew into Quinto and back for $500 last month on a special deal and happened to have an absessed tooth while there. He had a root canal performed for $180 that came complete with a house call to check in on the patient and digital x rays. Had he had the absessed tooth here, he would have paid over $2200.00.
Â
What do you think about the US GDP growth rate being ranked at only 156th out of 185? Kinda like Somali huh?
