Iraq's oil exports hit highest level in 30 years

BAGHDAD (AP) - Iraq's Oil Ministry says crude oil exports have averaged 2.565 million barrels a day in August, the highest level in more than three decades.
Ministry spokesman Assem Jihad said Sunday that last month's revenues stood at $8.442 billion based on an average price of $106 for each barrel. Jihad added that 2.252 million barrels a day were exported through the Persian Gulf and another 313,000 barrels were sent through Turkey's Ceyhan port.
Iraq's oil exports have climbed steadily since last year, thanks to a handful of international oil companies operating in Iraq and to the inauguration of two new export terminals in the Persian Gulf early this year.
Iraq holds the world's fourth largest oil reserves, some 143.1 billion barrels.

And just think. We only had to teach them how to get 120% out of their production to do it.Â
Then how come our gas prices still up ? I am so damn sure that the oil companies and
the politicians are hooked up and cooking the books !!!!!
Yet our gas prices continue to rise. Â Tonight I was watching a movie filmed in southern California in 2003. Â Gas prices were $1.71. Â I honestly did a double take. Â
@sleever $ 0.18 pr gallon in Venezuela, of course we'd have to nationalize the oil industry to get that price and that won't sit well with the folks that own our politicians and control our government and economy. The US Government did cut a deal with Communist Red China, $1 pr barrel to pay back what we borrowed for war. One thing you can bet on, you wont get a fair shake.
So we DID win the war.Â
Â
Fighting Nazis? Yes - send the armed forces in. Oil profits for fat cats?
Â
Wa it really worth it?
But the Iraq war wasn't about oil. The ink wasn't even dry on the agreements to allow major oil companies to exploit Iraq's oil when VP Cheney said, "We got what we came here for." The blood of our young people and the people of Iraq for oil, not a fair exchange in my book.
@jcman Are you talking about the current President Cheney?
