Samsung drops Apple injunction bids in Europe

LONDON (AP) - Samsung Electronics Co. said Tuesday it has withdrawn its requests to have sales of certain Apple products banned in Europe, though it is still pursuing lawsuits over technology licenses.
The two companies are waging a legal battle on multiple fronts and across the world as they jostle for dominance in the more than $100 billion global smartphone market.
On Monday, a judge in San Francisco rejected Apple Inc.'s demands that Samsung cease selling models which a jury recently found illegally used Apple technology. The ruling allows Samsung to continue selling three of the older-generation smartphones still on U.S. shelves.
In the European case, Samsung said it was withdrawing the injunction requests "in the interest of protecting consumer choice." It did not specify in what countries it was dropping the requests, but press reports mentioned Germany, France, Britain, Italy and the Netherlands.
While it dropped the sales ban request, Samsung is still suing Apple in Europe over the use of certain technology licenses.
"Samsung did not withdraw its lawsuits in Europe; the lawsuits are very much in place," said Samsung spokesman Kiyung Nam.

Apple trying to be a bully. Why did the US and European govts go after Microsoft all of those years and not go after Apple!   Samsung makes a pretty good product the new Galaxy S IV should be pretty sweet with an unbreakable screen and 13.0 mp camera for starters.  Hey Apple don't your macbooks look similar to a PC?

On that note everybody should unlock their iPhones.
I hope Samsung gives Apple a taste of its own medicine! - I dislike apples, do not want to own a apple, and will not let anyone in my family use a apple product. The way Apple pushes out device upgrades is a joke even more so when they go off and attack phones that are beating their devices in the market as it is giving features people want... ie... larger screen...crisp bright display...AND open source!
