US Bank ATMs back online after 2-hour power outage

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - U.S. Bancorp says service has been restored at its 8,000 automatic teller machines across the nation following a two-hour outage.
The owner of Minneapolis-based U.S. Bank says a power failure in Oregon led to ATM outages Saturday between 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. EDT.
Bank spokesman Tom Joyce says the problems were sporadic and power was restored in geographic blocks over time. He says not all 8,000 machines were down for the entire two hours.
Joyce says the failures weren't due to hacking or security violations. He says the entire network should be back online and working fine.
U.S. Bank has more than 3,000 bank offices in 25 states. It's the fifth-largest commercial bank in the U.S., with $353 billion in assets.

Thats been happening in Europe now lately also except, over there its simply called an atm bank holiday and it helps slow down runs. Over there they just stand in line all night and wait to draw attention to it and it pisses the bankers off because they dont really want to let on that the system is bankrupt like ours. I wouldnt have a substantial amount of money in any US bank anyway now with the MF Global, Pedegrine, and now that latest one to steal from the personal accounts of their customers with no arrests, supeonas, indictments, investigation or anything other then rich people running around with stolen money with absolutely no recourse from the justice dept. Good job Eric Holder, your silence has accelerated these thefts. Power outage indeed. Next week it will be a software glitch right?
