Shop online and you can find some great prices, especially if you don't have to pay for shipping.
A site appropriately called FreeShipping.org let's you find the stores that ship for free. I checked the site today and found some big name retailers that not only don't charge for shipping, they don't require a minimum purchase.
Here are just a few: Zappos, Blinds.com, L.L. Bean, Linens 'n Things, Modern Bathroom and Sunglasses Hut.
Consumer Reports Shopsmart magazine says if the online retailer doesn't have free shipping, see if they have a ship-to-store option. That's where you order an item on the web and rather than having it sent to your home or office, you pick it up from a brick-and-mortar store near you - for free!
The editors at Shopsmart say ship-to-store is one of their favorite features at Walmart.com. In some cases, you can get the item from a Walmart store that day.
