Think you won free gas? Think again

If you get an offer for free gas, think twice. The Better Business Bureau is sounding the alarm on a scam that promises just that.

Some consumers have received a card titled the Great Gas Giveaway informing them they've won a $300 gas card. The card instructs them to send a money order of $29.95 in order to receive the card they've won.

Some consumers are also being offered to the Gas Giveaway Web site, which states they can get a $1,000 Shopping Spree Gift Card.

The BBB says both the card and the Web site feature an outdate BBB logo and falsely claim to be a proud member of the BBB.

Remember, you should always be wary of sweepstakes and contests that instruct you to send your money somewhere in order to receive the big prize.

If you're contacted regarding the Great Gas Giveaway, you can file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau online.
