Ever see a new, unusual product and said to yourself, "I could use that!" The good Housekeeping Research Institute just tested three of them.
The first of the three products is the Dirt Devil Kwik Vac ($30). Carolyn Forté, the institute's cleaning products director, likes the hand-vac for its sleek design.
"It looks really great on your desk. It plugs into your USB port to charge so its always handy, and in our tests we found that it did a great job cleaning between the computer keyboards and all around your desk surface," she said.
The JVC Everio S Camcorder ($350) gets a thumbs-up from the institute, especially if you like to upload your video onto YouTube.
"What really made this camcorder stand out is that it's extremely compact, so that you can just stick it in your purse. It also has an easy, one-touch button that will allow you to upload your recordings to YouTube," said engineer Rachel Rothman.
And the camcorder only weighs a little more than half a pound.
Good Housekeeping says the Breville The Smart Oven ($250) is a pretty sharp oven/toaster combo.
"It's a beautifully-designed unit with a blue LCD panel," said kitchen appliances director Sharon Franke. "It comes with nine preset options that you can fine tune by turning a dial. The performance was among the best we've ever seen from a toaster oven."
The Smart Oven comes with one rack, but it can be used in three positions.
