A laugh a day can keep the heart doctor away

You've heard the expression "laughter is the best medicine." Well that just may be true!

According to new research at the University Maryland Medical Center, laughter and a good sense of humor may reduce the risk of a heart attack. I'm not kidding!

Deborah Enos, a certified nutritionist in Seattle, says there's a logical explanation for this.

"Laughing relaxes you muscles all over your body, including your heart. And so, if you laugh more your blood pressure will be lower and if your blood pressure is lower, much, much less risk of heart disease and cardiovascular disease."

And here's the really neat part:

"Your body really can't tell the difference between a fake and a real laugh. So just try to get in as many laughs as you can each day."

And that's going to take some work. Kids laugh about 300 times a day. Most adults laugh only laugh around 10 times a day.
