Don't skip fine print on Medicare Part D rules
Open enrollment for Medicare Part D, the prescription drug program, starts on Sunday, November 15th.

Many of the plans are changing next year.

"They're changing their co-pays, premiums, what drugs they'll cover, if you need prior approval for a drug and possibly which pharmacy you can visit," says Stephanie Marquis with the State Insurance Commissioner's office.

Just because you are happy with this year's plan, doesn't mean you'll like that same plan next year. You need to read everything you get in the mail from your drug company.

If you don't like the changes, you should start shopping around right away.

This is complicated stuff, so the Insurance Commissioner's SHIBA program is ready to help at 1-800-562-6900.

"It's a statewide team of trained volunteers in local communities and they provide one-on-one counseling on Medicare and other health coverage issues," Marquis explains.

Remember you need to make a decision by December 31st.
