Facial cleansers that help battle wrinkles
The newest tool in the battle against aging comes in the form of wrinkle-fighting cleansers. But do these products work?
Sound a little too good to be true, doesn't it? A facial wash that cleanses your skin while fighting wrinkles?
But the idea may not be as far-fetched as it seems. The beauty experts at the Good Housekeeping Research Institute put them to the test.
In the ongoing fight against ageing, several beauty companies have combined facial cleansers with anti-aging formulas to provide two-in-one action for every woman.
"Now we have cleansers that are available that are very effective at cleaning your face, but at the same time delivering products like peptides or acids that will help to diminish the appearance of fine lines on your face," said dermatologist Francesca Fusco, M.D.
If aging is your concern, look for creamy hydrating cleaner formulas, because keeping your skin hydrated will keep it looking younger.
"My patients often ask me about facial washes versus the cleansing clothes. And it's really not a matter of one being better than another; it's just what's best for your skin type at that time of day," Fusco said.
Facial wash doesn't spend a long time on your skin, so some people doubt it's ability to provide anti-aging skin care simultaneously. But Good Housekeeping says L'oreal Age Perfect Rich Restorative Cream Cleanser does double duty.
"We love this L'oreal cleanser because it contains hydrating glycerin, which won't strip your skin of its natural oils," said beauty writer April Franzino.
Another option: Olay Total Effects 7-in-1 Anti-Aging Cleansing Cloths. They're pre-moistened wipes that you apply to your face and don't even have to wash off.
Remember, wrinkle creams cannot permanently remove wrinkles; this is just a temporary fix. They tend to puff up the skin to make the wrinkles less visible.
Wrinkles are a normal part of aging. Sun speeds up the process.
