State targets extended auto warranty companies

Despite warnings and even legal action, companies are still flooding the market with deceptive postcards and phone calls pushing extended vehicle service warranties.

The state insurance commissioner just ordered a California company to stop selling the contracts here.

The cease and desist order is against Consumer Direct Warranty Services, Inc., and three related companies using the names Warranty Administration Services, Inc., Warranty Administration Solutions, Inc. and Safedata Management Services.

The insurance commissioner says none of the people involved is licensed to do business in Washington state.
