Consumer Reports finds some top notch products at bargain prices
Sometimes you have to compromise on quality if you want to save money. But you can still get top notch products at bargain prices.
For its May issue, Consumer Reports ShopSmart magazine went looking for bargains. They found lots of them – budget-stretching products that performed well in their lab tests.
Here are a few examples:
Suave Advanced Therapy Body Lotion: it did almost as well as the top-rate Cetaphil in Consumer Reports moisturizer tests, but it's less than half the price. The only downside - it takes a little bit longer to rub in.
Costco's Kirkland Signature Alkaline AA Batteries ($10/48-pack): ShopSmart says they last as long as some pricey big brands.
Resolve Laundry Stain Remover: it’s not only the cheapest pre-wash treatment tested by Consumer Reports,it's also the best. It got out more blood, grass, wine and motor oil.
How about a cordless phone for just $25? ShopSmart says pick-up the Uniden D1660. The editors say it has "excellent range and voice quality." You get up to 11 hours of talk time on a charge.
Shop Smart recommends the Royal CX88 Paper Shredder. At $50, it's "almost as fast and easy to use as models that cost twice as much."
