Do you really need to skip egg yolks?

Do you really need to skip egg yolks?
You try to watch what you eat. So, when you have eggs, you skip the yolks and go with the egg whites.

A lot of restaurants feature egg dishes made with just the whites. But is that really the smart way to go?

"Eat the whole egg," says Deborah Enos, a certified nutritionist and Seattle's "One-Minute Wellness Coach."

"Eggs whites, yes, they are wonderfully high in protein and it's going to keep you going and energize you for the next two or three hours. The biggest problem is that the healthiest part of the egg is in the yolk! Egg yolks have been shown to help prevent macular degeneration and they're linked now to reduction of heart disease and stroke."

Enos says the latest research from trusted nutrition experts, such as the Mayo Clinic, shows eggs can be part of a healthful diet.

"Four full eggs a week seem to be absolutely fine even if you're suffering from cholesterol issues."

Chances are other things will raise your cholesterol more than eating the occasion egg yolk.
