If you have large quantities of documents to shred, here's a chance to get it done for free.
Nonprofit group Clearpoint Credit Counseling Solutions is partnering with AAA Washington, Cintas and Verizon Hope Line for free shredding and cell phone recycling on Saturday, Oct. 27.
Clearpoint will also collect and secure old cell phones and deliver them to
Verizon's Hope Line program, which assists domestic violence victims.
Before donating used cell phones, Verizon encourages you to check the Hope Line website for instructions on how to properly scrub stored content from your phone.
You can bring up to three grocery bags or three small boxes of financial and tax statements, canceled checks and other sensitive documents for on-the spot shredding by Cintas. The industrial shredders are equipped with exterior video monitors that let you see the document shredding as it happens.
