How do you pick a paint color?

It's one of the toughest parts of any paint job: what colors to use.

If you're painting your house and there's the chance you might be selling the place, you need to choose carefully.

You want that paint to make the house seem large, warm and welcoming.

"So it's a good idea to use neutral colors that allow you to move from one to room to another," says But Celia Kuperszmid-Lehrman, deputy home editor at Consumer Reports.

Kuperszmid-Lehrman says that doesn't mean you have to go with white paint.

Putting color on accent wall is OK, or she says, use accessories to get color into the room.

"That gives the room some pop, it adds a lot of personality and life to the room. People will remember that the space is lively and fun. They're not going to think that it was a bright color that they have to repaint."
