Nearly half a million top-loading LG and Kenmore Elite washing machines are being recalled because of excessive vibrating that can cause the drum to come loose and cause property damage or injury.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the various models were sold at retailers nationwide between April 2010 and this December. If you have one, you should call LG -- which also manufactures Kenmore brand -- or Sears for a free in-home repair.

If you have one of the machines and have noticed excessive shaking, CPSC says you should stop using it immediately.

For Kenmore or LG washers pursed at Sears or Kmart, call 1-888-812-2935. For LG washers purchased at any retailer call 1-855-400-4639.

More information about the recall is available online.
