Mediterranean Diet gets high marks for heart health
Maybe you heard the news? Scientists have now confirmed what had long been suspected: the so-called Mediterranean diet is good for your heart.
And that's great, because on this diet you get to have wine – up to seven glasses a week. And you can still eat fat, as long as it's the right kind.
"No butter, no margarine. It's olive oil all the way," said Certified nutritionist Deborah Enos, better known as the one-minute wellness coach.
Enos is a big believer in the Mediterranean diet.
"The emphasis is on fruits and veggies, whole grains, more seafood, olive oil, beans and nuts," she said. "The more fruits and veggies you eat, the better. In fact, the Greeks eat about nine servings of fruits and vegetables per day."
This study, published in the New England Journal of medicine, was the first clinical trial to show the correlation between the Mediterranean diet and heart health. Eat good food and cut your risk of heart disease and stroke by as much as 30 percent? Hey, I'll drink a glass of red wine to that!

7 Mediterranean Diet Recipes
As with anything, the Mediterranean diet is just like the Subway diet. Not everything in these diets is healthy, but it can be healthy if done right and in moderation. These diets tend to be over-rated. Gyros (contains wads and wads of meat), felafels (very deep fried), and baklava (high in sugar) are all food items associated with the Mediterranean diet, but are they healthy? The Mediterranean diet does contain many items that are deep fried and high in sodium. It is important to diversify and not strictly stick with one particular regimen. Doing the latter always leads to failure.
Look who paid for the research.lol An Olive Oil company. More junk research. People should be very careful about all this junk research floating around. Just because the New England Journal Of Medicines posts some research paper doesn't mean its valid. Always follow the money trail before believing anything in any research paper. That will tell you what the outcome is before you even read the research paper.
