PSE offers incentive to convert water heater to natural gas

Attention PSE customers: If you have a gas line going to your house, but still heat your water with electricity, you're wasting energy and money.
The utility would like you to switch to gas and it's willing to pay you $950 toward the price of converting, if you qualify.
So how much will going to natural gas save you?
"PSE estimates it's between $200 and $400 per year,” says Jason Hanleybrown with Fast Water Heater Company. Fast is working with PSE to do the conversions.
Hanleybrown says the program is designed to make sure you don't go without hot water when the old tank is replaced.
"In pretty much 99 percent of the cases we'll be able to make sure they get hot water the same day,” he says. "And if it means we have to use a temporary tank while we finish the job, we'll do that and make sure they have hot water for a shower that evening."
The process starts with a phone call to: 1-866-467-6447.
By the way, your hot water heater is the biggest energy user in your home -- after the heater equipment. So installing a more fuel-efficient model will lower your bills and help the environment.
PSE says if your current water heater has been around for 12 years or more, it should be replaced.
