Selling a home? Pay attention to that curb appeal
SEATTLE -- When you get your house ready to sell, you need to spruce up the inside and the outside.
"If you don't have good curb appeal, you're potentially selling yourself short," said Angie Hicks of Angie's List.
Hicks says you want the exterior of your home to stand out from the rest of the block.
"Clean up the landscaping, power wash the driveway, clean the roof, things that make your house look in tip-top shape," she said.
Angie says if the paint on the house is in good shape, you don't need to repaint it. You can "freshen up" the look a bit by doing some key accents – such as the painting the front door or the shutters, maybe the trim.
And what about the yard? Angie says don't go crazy on the landscaping – keep it simple and clean.
"Make sure your flower beds are weeded. Make sure you have some nice simple flowers; even a pot of flowers right by the door can be nice," she said. "Step across the street and where do you see that you think you could do some cleaning up."
The bottom line, anything you can do to boost the curb appeal gives you a leg up on the competition.

I disagree. It is important to make the yard look nice. I think people might think if they let the lawn go what else did they let go? The only exception I could see is if the house is a tear down and the property is what you're paying for.
Except that currently, inventory is SO low in real estate, it doesn't matter. Dumb timing on this article Komo.
