What's new for your kitchen and bath?

This is going to be a big year for the color gray. The National Kitchen and Bath Association predicts gray will replace white and off-white as the most popular color scheme for new and remodeled kitchens and bathrooms.

Our news partners at Consumer Reports noticed that trend at this month’s International Builders and Kitchen and Bath Industry Shows in Las Vegas. They saw a lot of gray-toned finishes and surfaces, including quartz countertops and
kitchen cabinets.

Other trends the editors noticed at the show: greater connectivity – more products and appliances with Wi-Fi enabled remote control – and more smart appliances.

For example, the Delta Faucet Temp20, winner of the Best of Bath Gold Award, has a digital temperature display that uses LED color indicators to show different water temperatures.

Consumer Reports said their favorite gee-whiz product unveiled at the show is a new Corian countertop from DuPont that should be out at the end of the year. It has an embedded wireless phone charger. Just place your cellphone on the counter and it charges – no cords required.
