Beware of scammers posing as Delta Airlines, local utility crew
Delta Airlines says it has been flooded with calls about mass email confirmations for round-trip flights between New York and San Francisco. The emails are so realistic, some of the included links are reportedly legit. But others are malicious.
Delta has posted a warning on its website. The airline did not send the emails. The fraudulent confirmation notices are just another slick phishing scam to get your account information or infect your computer.
The airline urges its rewards customers to change the personal ID number on their Skymiles accounts.
Seattle City Light warns local power customers that con artists are working local neighborhoods, claiming to be city tree-trimming contractors. They're reportedly driving an unmarked pickup and going door-to door, targeting homes with large trees. While one impostor gets you outside in your yard to discuss the tree in question, the accomplice slips into your house, looking for things to steal.
Remember, legitimate contractors will always have picture ID with their vehicles clearly marked. Never allow a stranger into your home. If you have concerns, tell them to wait, close and lock the door, look up the company number for yourself and call to confirm that they have contractors in the area.
