Bad trip: Man, visiting family attacked in Pioneer Square

SEATTLE -- A man and his visiting family had their night out at a Pioneer Square bar ruined when another patron randomly dumped their drinks on them and then waited outside the bar to attack the man, according to the Seattle Police Department.

According to the police report for the incident, the victim, his mother and his sister were just finishing up drinks at Merchants Cafe and Saloon around 9:40 p.m. last Tuesday when a couple came in and ordered drinks.

The bartender later told officers the man who had just come in, without any previous contact with the victim or his family, walked over and dumped their drinks on their laps. The man then slapped the victim in the arm and was quickly asked to leave the bar, according to the report.

A few minutes later, the victim's mother and sister went to the restroom and he went outside to wait for them.

The victim told officers he saw the man who had dumped their drinks waiting in an alley nearby. According to the report, the man came at the victim and punched him in the face.

The victim told officers he doesn't know how to fight, so he went to the ground and curled into a ball, twisting his ankle in the process.

According to the report, the victim's sister came out of the bar to see the man attacking her brother and helped a bystander pull the man off the victim

According to the report, the man ran off, and the victim was taken to Swedish Hospital, where he was treated for cuts and scrapes, as well as a severely broken ankle.
