Charges: Hammer-wielding ex attacks woman's new man at Red Lobster

SEATTLE -- A couple's Saturday dinner at a Tacoma Red Lobster was interrupted when they were confronted by one of their hammer-wielding exes in the parking lot, according to charges filed Monday with Pierce County Superior Court.

According to the charging documents, the victim and his girlfriend pulled into the parking lot, and the girlfriend's ex-boyfriend, 50-year-old Karey Gallerson, immediately pulled in behind them.

Gallerson got out of the car with a hammer in his hand and immediately came at the victim, according to the charging documents. A fight ensued, and the victim eventually got the hammer away from Gallerson but not before reportedly getting hit in the head with it.

Two witnesses later told officers they didn't see what started the fight but did see the victim hit Gallerson with the hammer while saying, "I've got the hammer now."

According to the charging documents, the witnesses intervened, grabbing the hammer away from the victim and holding Gallerson until officers arrived.

Officers arrested Gallerson, who reportedly told them the victim had been making death threats against him. According to the charging documents, Gallerson said the victim charged his car, and he only got out with the hammer to defend himself.

According to the charging documents, evidence at the scene contradicts Gallerson's statements, and he was charged with assault. He was also charged with violating a protection order taken out against him by his ex-girlfriend.
