Charges: Man was looking for 'pedo porn or the real deal'

PUYALLUP, Wash. -- A 24-year-old Puyallup man posted an anonymous Craigslist ad looking for "pedo porn or the real deal," according to charges filed Thursday by the Pierce County Prosecutor's Office.

Police received an anonymous tip about the ad Oct. 11, and an undercover detective replied to it while posing as a man interested in child pornography.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, the detective started corresponding with the ad's poster, Ngoc Van Tran.

Van Tran reportedly told the detective he was a pedophile and that "a lot of pedophiles are into the whole boy love aspect. I'm not; I just want to use them."

Van Tran sent the detective a video of a toddler being molested and asked the detective, "Any vids? Care to share some? Younger the better," according to the Prosecutor's Office.

Detectives traced Van Tran to his Puyallup home and arrested him.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, Van Tran admitted to sharing images with people answering his Craigslist ad. He reportedly told detectives he knew he was taking a risk by posting the ads, but he "really wanted to find it."

Van Tran was charged with dealing in depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, and bail was set at $100,000.
