MOUNT VERNON, Wash. -- Well, that didn't take long. A couple riding their way from Alaska to South America only made it as far as Mount Vernon before someone stole their bicycles.

According to the Mount Vernon Police Department, the victims stopped in Mount Vernon for dinner. When they left the restaurant near South Third Street and West Gates Street, their bicycles were gone.

Also gone were their clothing, sleeping bags, tents and more that had been attached to the bikes.

Now, police are hoping someone in the community has information that will lead to the recovery of the stolen bicycles. The bikes are described as follows:

A black Trek Hybrid bicycle with blue trim, 27 speeds, black tires and a black seat. Two black bags were on the back tire, and a yellow bag was above the black bags. Two gray bags were on the front tire.

A black Apollo Trace 2.0 Hybrid bicycle with 24 speeds, black tires and a black seat. Two black bags were on the back tire, and two red bags were on the front tire.
