Police: Felon kidnapped his baby, threatened to kill girlfriend

MOUNT VERNON, Wash. -- A felon wanted by both the Sedro Woolley Police Department and the U.S. Marshall's Office was arrested Tuesday after kidnapping his 2-month-old baby and threatening to kill his girlfriend, according to the Mount Vernon Police Department.

According to police, the 20-year-old Burlington resident showed up at a home in Mount Vernon where his girlfriend was staying with their baby on Monday night, assaulted her and stole her van.

Around 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, the suspect returned to the house, took his baby and threatened to kill his girlfriend and her friend, telling them he had a gun, according to police.

Officers spotted the suspect driving the stolen van and pursued him to a residence in Burlington after he reportedly refused to pull over.

Once the suspect arrived at the Burlington residence, he was arrested and booked into Skagit County Jail for investigation of assault, eluding police, felon in possession of a firearm and custodial interference. He also has a robbery warrant from Sedro Woolley and is wanted by the U.S. Marshall's Office for an incident in Texas.

The baby was returned safely to its mother, and officers found a gun in the van, according to police.
