Police: Man threatens burger patrons after fight with fiancée

LAKEWOOD, Wash. -- A 41-year-old man was arrested Saturday for threatening a restaurant full of people who had just seen him get in a fight with his fiancée, according to the Lakewood Police Department.

According to police, the suspect got into an argument with his 38-year-old fiancée shortly after 3 p.m. inside the 5 Guys Burgers and Fries at the Lakewood Towne Center.

When the fiancée got up and left the restaurant, the suspect told fellow patrons he had a gun and yelled for them to get out of the building, according to police.

Customers panicked and ran outside, and officers arrived shortly thereafter. According to police, the suspect, who appeared to be intoxicated, quickly surrendered.

Despite the suspect's threats, no one in the restaurant had seen a gun and officers didn't find one on him, according to police.

The suspect was booked into Pierce County Jail.
