REDMOND, Wash. -- A 30-year-old woman believed to be under the effects of alcohol or drugs had to be extricated from her SUV after hitting multiple cars and one tree Tuesday evening in Redmond and Bellevue, according to the Redmond Police Department.

According to police, the first reports of a recklessly driven SUV came in from the 18700 block of East Sammamish Parkway around 6 p.m. Officers first saw the SUV near Redmond Way and West Lake Sammamish Parkway around 7 p.m. but were unable to stop it.

The Bellevue Police Department received reports of an SUV possibly hitting a tree shortly before the Redmond Police Department received reports of the SUV hitting a car at Union Hill Road and Avondale Road.

According to police, witnesses following the SUV led officers to it in the 17000 block of Redmond Way. Once again, the SUV reportedly refused to stop, leading police on a chase that only ended after the SUV hit another car on Avondale Way.

The driver of the SUV had to be extricated from the car and was taken to Harborview Medical Center with possible broken bones, according to police. The occupants of the cars reportedly hit by the suspect suffered only minor injuries.

Police believe alcohol and/or drugs were involved and are continuing to investigate.
