Police: Woman accosted by man masturbating in UW elevator

SEATTLE -- For the second time in two weeks, a University of Washington student has been accosted on campus by a masturbating man, according to the University of Washington Police Department.

The most recent incident took place around 1 p.m. Tuesday while the victim was on an elevator in Schmitz Hall.

According to police, a man got on the elevator and said hello to the victim. When the victim looked at the man, he was reportedly masturbating.

The victim confronted the man and chased him off the elevator. She followed him onto University Way Northeast before losing him and flagging down officers.

While the victim was speaking with officers, the man drove by in an older blue sedan, according to police. Officers gave chase but lost the man as he sped through the neighborhood.

The man was described as a black man, possibly East African, approximately 18 years old, 5-feet-8-inches tall, and 140 to 160 pounds. He had a thin build and short black hair. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black button-up shirt, gray pants and a gold chain around his neck.

This is a similar description to the man who reportedly cornered another female student in her booth at the Husky Union Building's food court June 16. In that incident, the man, who was not caught, had his pants down and was masturbating, according to police.
