EDMONDS, Wash. -- Officers located a stolen car full of stolen items Monday morning in Edmonds but were unable to capture the culprit, according to the Edmonds Police Department.

A number of residents called 911 around 6:30 a.m. to report a suspicious man and car in the area. Officers arrived to find a Honda Accord parked partially in the street near 187th Place Southwest and 78th Place Southwest.

According to police, the Honda's engine was still warm, and the car was filled with stuff, including bags of tools.

After officers determined the car had been stolen in Snohomish County, police dogs were called to the scene but were unable to track down the man who had been seen with the car.

The Honda's rightful owner gave officers permission to search it, and a number of items reported stolen from cars in Lynnwood and Edmonds were found inside, according to police.

The Honda was returned to its owner, and police are continuing to investigate.
