Sheriff: Man imprisoned, raped victim in her Whidbey Island home

WHIDBEY ISLAND, Wash. -- A man was arrested Saturday evening on Whidbey Island after trapping a resident in her home and raping her multiple times, according to the Island County Sheriff's Office.

According to the Sheriff's Office, a 911 dispatcher answered a call from a home on Moran Road and heard a woman yelling for help before the call was disconnected.

When the dispatcher called back, a man answered and reportedly told the dispatcher his young daughter had accidentally called 911 but everything was OK.

Deputies went to the home to check out the incident and found the 32-year-old victim, who said she had been held in her house against her will and raped multiple times. She told deputies the suspect, Douglas Blackburn, had run off before deputies arrived.

Officers from multiple law-enforcement agencies searched for Blackburn, who was eventually found hiding in the woods near the victim's house, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Blackburn was booked into Island County Jail for investigation of rape and unlawful imprisonment.
