Suicidal woman reportedly tries to run over family, deputy

YELM, Wash. -- A suicidal woman attempted to run over her family, as well as a Thurston County Sheriff's deputy, before being arrested Sunday night in Yelm, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The 19-year-old suspect reportedly attacked her family after threatening to commit suicide at their home in the 14000 block of Yelm Highway around 6:45 p.m.

According to the Sheriff's Office, a deputy arrived to find the suspect driving around the yard and trying to hit her family members.

When the deputy stopped at the gate, the suspect -- ignoring commands to stop -- accelerated at the deputy, forcing him to jump out of the way to avoid being hit, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The suspect drove off only to be picked up by a Yelm Police Department officer, whom she reportedly led on a car chase back toward her home.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the officer and deputy failed to stop the suspect multiple times before the deputy was finally able to stop her as she tried to drive back up her driveway toward her family members.

The suspect was arrested and booked into Thurston County Jail.
