SEATTLE -- A 47-year-old man lost a game of hide-and-seek with officers during a residential burglary Saturday night in Seward Park, according to the Seattle Police Department.

According to police, neighbors watched as the suspect crawled through the basement window of a home in the 5400 block of Lake Washington Boulevard South around 8 p.m.

Neighbors called 911, and officers arrived to see the suspect going through kitchen cabinets and drawers, according to police.

A neighbor called the homeowner, who was out of state, and the homeowner gave officers permission to enter his home after the suspect reportedly refused to come out.

According to police, officers searched the house and eventually found the suspect hiding in a closet. He was arrested and booked into King County Jail for investigation of burglary.
