Two people attacked, robbed while walking home near Ballard

SEATTLE -- Two people were attacked -- with one victim being hospitalized for her injuries -- in a series of robberies late Saturday along Northwest Market Street near Ballard, according to the Seattle Police Department.

According to the police report for the first incident, a woman was walking home in the 200 block of North 46th Street when a man punched her in the face and stole her cellphone.

She was unable to describe the robber to officers, but a neighbor heard the victim screaming and saw a man with a backpack and baseball hat running away from the scene.

The neighbor sat with the victim until help arrived, and she was taken to Harborview Medical Center with a possibly broken nose.

According to the report for the second incident, a man was walking home in the 400 block of Northwest Market Street -- half a mile from the earlier robbery -- around 11:45 p.m. while listening to music on his cellphone.

He later told officers he saw a shadow come over him from behind, and the next thing he knew he was on the ground, dazed and confused. He said he may have been briefly unconscious.

According to the report, the victim's wallet and cellphone were missing and there was no one around when he came to.

He said a car stopped after he got off the ground, but the occupants didn't help him other than to tell him to go home.

Officers searched the scene but didn't find anything.
