Woman hit by softball-size rock while breastfeeding at home

SEATTLE -- A Queen Anne woman was breastfeeding her baby late Monday night in her apartment when she was hit by a softball-sized rock thrown through her window, according to the Seattle Police Department.

According to the police report for the incident, the victim was in her ground-floor apartment in the 200 block of West Mercer Street with her baby and 9-year-old girl around 11:10 p.m.

She was sitting on the bed next to the window breastfeeding her infant when a rock slightly larger than a softball smashed through the window and hit her in the back, according to the report. Fortunately, the baby was not hit by the rock or broken glass.

The victim later told officers she saw a man running away immediately after the rock was thrown, but has no idea who he was and couldn't think of anyone who has a grudge against her.

Seattle Fire Department medics arrived and treated the victim for minor injuries.
