OLYMPIA, Wash. - An 80-foot wooden-hulled boat is leaking oil at the West Bay Marina in Olympia after reportedly sinking early Monday morning.
Crews from the state Department of Ecology, U.S. Coast Guard, West Bay Marina and the Nisqually Indian Tribe Marine Division are on scene working to contain the leak.
Booms and absorbent materials are being used but the Department of Ecology says a light rainbow sheen can be seen in the water.
It is unknown at this time how the boat sank or how much fuel is on board.
Crews with the Department of Ecology say a single quart of oil can contaminate more than 100,000 gallons of water.
