SEATTLE - UPS plans to hire 55,000 employees to help tackle the busy holiday shipping season this year.
The global shipping company expects to pick-up more than 34 million packages around the world on what is considered its peak business day - Dec. 16. In order to handle the load, UPS says it's looking for seasonal drivers, package sorters, loaders and unloaders.
This year there are only 26 shopping days between Thanksgiving and Christmas making it one of the shortest holiday seasons since 2002, according to UPS.
