'Two and a Half Men' actor calls his show 'filth'

NEW YORK (AP) - The teenage actor who plays the half in the hit CBS comedy "Two and a Half Men" says in a video posted online by a Christian church that the show is "filth" and that viewers shouldn't watch it.
Nineteen-year-old Angus T. Jones has been on the show, which used to feature bad-boy actor Charlie Sheen and remains heavy with sexual innuendo, since he was 10 but says he doesn't want to be on it anymore.
"Please stop watching it," Jones said. "Please stop filling your head with filth."
Jones plays Jake, the son of Jon Cryer's uptight divorced chiropractor character, Alan, and the nephew of Sheen's hedonistic philandering music jingle writer character, Charlie. Sheen, who has publicly criticized CBS, was fired and replaced by Ashton Kutcher, who plays billionaire Walden.
In the video posted by the Forerunner Christian Church in Fremont, Calif., Jones describes a search for a spiritual home. He says the type of entertainment he's involved in adversely affects the brain and "there's no playing around when it comes to eternity."
"You cannot be a true God-fearing person and be on a television show like that," he said. "I know I can't. I'm not OK with what I'm learning, what the Bible says, and being on that television show."
Show producer Warner Bros. Television had no comment Monday. CBS didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
"Two and a Half Men" survived a wild publicity ride less than two years ago, when Sheen was fired for his drug use and publicly complained about the network and the show's creator, Chuck Lorre.
The show was moved from Monday to Thursday this season, and its average viewership has dropped from 20 million an episode to 14.5 million, although last year's numbers were somewhat inflated by the intense interest in Kutcher's debut. It is the third most popular comedy on television behind CBS's "The Big Bang Theory" and ABC's "Modern Family."

Just so you know...19 is no longer a teenager but an adult capable of making his own decisions. Sounds like he's trying to find an out for his contract. I bet this will do it. I hope he's made the most of the money he's already made and has designs on getting an education and moving forward w/ his life. We stopped watching the show for many reasons, not the least of which was how raunchy it was...
If the shows producers aren't responsible for stirring up this controversial crap, then the kid should be fired for biting the hand that feeds him just like anybody would for bad-mouthing their job. It will be interesting to see what happens to him when he's 35. Kirk Cameron Still Around? He dun found some God! Leif Garrett when the other way with the drugs and he's still breathing too. Charlie knew what he was doing. WINNING!
And wasn't Charlie Sheen a fine role model for his young co-star? Dis your bosses and your show and it will all come out right in the end when someone gives you another show.
Â
I don't give a rodent's patoot about the "Christian" rap this kid gave. He's an ungrateful, condescending punk, who's prostituting himself if he actually believes even one word of what he's spewing. If he's a real Christian, he'll resign and give back the money. Yeah, right. Like that's gonna happen.
Talk about biting the hand that feeds.......I bet when his butt is fired, and the money he was making evaporates, the cult  he belongs to will lose interest in him. Â
I am shocked, surprised, and excited that this young man said this! I have always thought this show was disgusting. Filth is a pretty quick way to say it. Amen and I hope to hear more of what young Angus is doing!
Good for you, Angus. Young people can change, and looks like this young man has gotten his head on straight after a few years. Ignore the naysayers who don't believe in change. The power of Christ can do wonders to change lives. He may be stuck in a contract, which is why he hasn't gotten out immediately.
If anyone thinks this kid just woke up one day and suddenly decided to be the most devout Christian this side of the pearly gates without the help of a little illegal substance, you're...well, wrong. I'll be glad to see how his massive wealth benefits the children and teens who's heads have been 'filled with filth' at his hands. Right, t-minus three weeks until he pops up in the news again for DUI.Â
@windtreeman I believe I read on another site that he indeed fell into drug use and was trying to turn his life around. Whatever it was, it was his decision...
This show was slotted to be cancelled soon anyway. I'm starting to wonder if this could be some covert last ditch effort to get people to watch it. What better way to peak people's attention than by telling them how "bad" it is.....Â
If that's the way he feels than more power to him. Of course it's all just talk until such a time as he resigns from the show and gives away his royaly checks. Put up or shut up kid; you can't have it both ways.
Wow---what courage! Remember yourself at 19--did YOU have convictions that made you change your whole life? I'm so glad to hear that not all actors are happy with the status-quo. There are bigger things, people. Much more important! Your eternity waits, whether you acknowledge it or not. We all get to choose where and how to spend it--you can't diss Angus because he made his choice and it's isn't the one YOU'D choose.
@OlyCher Being a rich, religious crazy doesn't take courage. Just look at Kirk Cameron.
@OlyCher Yet he still cashes his checks and negotiates pay raises? That's not conviction, its being a spoiled brat.
@Xirxious @OlyCher BOOM! TRUTH.
All aboard the hypocrisy train.Â
It's so terrible, but I will force myself to keep the $300,000 per show - that's per show - I get paid rather than donate say $10 or $10,000 or just one show to feed children, help the blind, Salvation Army - so I only get paid $900,000.00 each month.
Â
Rotten, any yet, I will keep every penny of my MILLION dollars a month in fithy, disgusting money.
Â
Phoney little creep
@sentryone I guess I missed the part where someone is obligated to give to YOUR interpretation of charity. The only rotten creep here is the person who feels entitled to give away someone else's money. Take a bow- that's you!Â
Â
Now you best get to the Ferrari dealership and tell everyone buying a car there what awful people they are for not donating that money.
LOL. People seem to forget the bible was written by men, is missing books written by Mary, and has many contradictions in it.  I won't get into a debate over it.  He can preach filth all he wants. it's subjective. This is the U. S. and everyone is free to disparage your employer. But it does show lack of integrity.  He works for the show, and if he wants out of his contract quietly do so, don't publicly announce it.Â
@Northend Not to mention it was translated through 15 languages before it got to English. Remember that 4th grade game where you sit in a circle and whisper a secret around? How it wound up different in the end?
I see plenty of filth in this comment section. Angry people. Tell me, why does a God you don't believe in make you so angry?
That sounds like an angry statement in itself, if not a little judgemental as well.Â
 @No Time It's not God...it's his followers.Â
Oooooh Lord! I would ask you to give away that filthy 350k per episode you're making then. Until you do.... you like most (not all), are a hypocrite.
@d_2 So essentially he should contractually work for free because why? Some laughing stock like you on the internet thinks so? Haha, that's a good joke. *rolls eyes
Â
You clearly have zero grasp as to what hypocrisy is.
Enjoy being unemployed, whiner.
He best give that filthy money to the church.
The Bible has a lot more violence, murder, rape, drunkenness, than that show has ever had.
Welcom to adulthood kid. I think that you'll find that most sh*tcoms are filth. It's the way that most americans can escape maturity for a half hour. I think that's what a large percent of your viewers are trying to do is escape being mature. It's pretty evident in reading a lot of the posts by people on this board. ReallyRUSerious is a good example of that. The humor and attitude of a middleschooler.
I would bet big money on a show called "How I banged your big mother" would be a huge hit just due to the name of the show. The name alone tells the average viewer that brains will not be needed, just eyes and ears.
"I am the slime on the video, oozing along on your livingroom floor." (F.Z.)
@SgtPepperSpray Off topic, but had to tip my hat to your awesome moniker. :-)
I admire his courage and the willingness to stand for what he believes in. Good for you, sir. I hope that the new path that you will take will be rewarding and bring you joy. #peaceandrespect
That the hypocrite reign not, lest the people be ensnared. Prov 11:9
Way to go Mr. Jones. Nice to see a few actors stepping onto the straight and narrow road.
filth, or just garbage?
All a publicity ad campaign. This kid id smart and will pad his pocket with this BS.
Even as the third wheel on that show he's probably loaded and could live a comfortable life in obscurity. Ah, to have such a conflict of conscience.
@nodozr At $350,000 an eposode, I'd say he has cash. Next we are going to read that he donated it all to the church. ha ha
This show is filth now. It used to be so funny but now it stinks.
Great. You're fired and we'll be sending those royalty check to the United Way in your name.
Â
Mazel'tov!
@svensson...........Maybe he'll send them on his own. Do you know him personally?
@ReallyRUSerious Having watched his 'testimony' on youtube, I suspect that the cut-rate televangelist that suckered the kid into this is going to be the recipient of most of the kid's money.
And just like with most televangelists, the only poor the that money is going to help feed are the sweatshop girls that make his silk suits.
Remember folks, if your pastor is ministering to more than three congregations, he is no long a shepherd of his flock, he's a con artist who just found the golden fleece... YOU.
@svensson Except the whole giving someone's royalties away is against the law thing...
Â
People can say what they want about his acting skills, the quality of the show, or even his current mental state. But when people suggest the money he rightfully earned should be given to charity over this, I can't help but want to punch them in the face for such arrogant stupidity.
@Dredd57  @svensson But it's filth money and it wouldn't be right for the spirit if he were to continue to profit from such corruptive filth. Yes give it all away to some charity, preferably a non denominational one.
@Dredd57 @Barlion Ok Dredd, but if one moral /ethical point is valid [that he earned that money and he deserves to get paid], why is another [that he owes the job that has fed and clothed him for a decade some loyalty] invalid.
Â
My point here is that if the work is morally 'filthy' then the rewards or benefits from it are equally filthy in a moral sense. Our society uses the same logic for other professions and/or financial windfalls.
Â
Consider the case, publicized by KOMO, where a woman had stopped to help a car accident victim. The woman's rent money was in her purse, which she left in her car. While she was helping the crash victim, someone stole her purse, rent money included. Many KOMO viewers sent the woman money to help with her situation and that money totalled over triple what she lost. LOTS of people had things to say about what she should do with that windfall then, and she was a crime victim in the midst of doing something that everyone would call virtuous.
Â
And, as I metioned below, I have no doubt that the cut-rate televangelist that convinced young Angus to shoot himself in the foot will likely be the recipient of much of the kid's money and I don't see much of that money ever helping the poor.
@svensson  @Barlion But unlike Sheen, Jones does not want to keep his job at Two and a Half Men. But agree with your second paragraph, the show has been very good to him, and he should not be making such disparaging remarks while he's under contract.
@Barlion  @svensson Jones earned that money, whether he donates his earned salary to the church or charity is up to him. Its the suggestion that he's obligated to give it away that reeks of clueless arrogance.
@Barlion @Dredd57 Hey you would think the kid would learn from Charlie Sheen about p!ssing down his own well, ya know? In his 'testimony', he was interviewed on camera, on a film set, and with the full knowlege that what he said was going to be publicized.
Â
I don't disagree with someone's faith. That is between them and their God. But Two and A Half Men has been very very good to young Angus and if he wants to make statements like that he can do it after his contract is up. The kid is 19 and it's suffer-the-consequences-for-your-actions time.
Angus knows filth as he's become filthy rich from the show. The show has gotten worse in recent years, so much I've stopped watching it on a regular basis.
Good for him!!! It's not always easy to stand up for what you believe in, especially in today's world and especially when it's so against what people consider acceptable nowadays. I am beyond proud of him for professing his faith and doing what he feels is right.
@USN LOL what a load of crap.
