WOBURN, Mass. (AP) - The half brother of comedian Dane Cook was in a Massachusetts court after he was accused of embezzling millions from the entertainer.
Darryl McCauley is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at Woburn District Court. Prosecutors allege the 43-year-old McCauley stole millions from Cook while working as Cook's manager as part of the comedian's company, Great Dane Enterprises Inc. They say McCauley transferred funds from Cook's business accounts to his personal accounts between July 2007 and December 2008. In one instance, investigators alleged that McCauley forged a $3 million check from Cook's account to himself. The 36-year-old Cook's comedy album "Retaliation" went double platinum, and he has appeared in several films, including "My Best Friend's Girl" with Kate Hudson.
