Actor Jim Nabors marries male partner in Seattle
HONOLULU (AP) - The actor best known for playing the TV character Gomer Pyle in the 1960s has married his male partner of 38 years.
Hawaii News Now reports Jim Nabors and his partner Stan Cadwallader traveled from their Honolulu home to Seattle to be married Jan. 15.
Gay marriage became legal in Washington state last month.
Nabors is 82 years old. Cadwallader is in his late 60s. Nabors says you've got to solidify something when you've been together as long as they have.
They couple met in 1975 when Cadwallader was a Honolulu firefighter.
Nabors says he's been open about his homosexuality to co-workers and friends but never acknowledged it to the media before.
Nabors played Gomer Pyle in "The Andy Griffith Show" and "Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C." television shows.

He was also quite a famous singer. Although I couldn't stop laughing when a commercial showed this wonderful rich voice coming out of Gomer Pyle's mouth.

 @lin Right, surely this guy stuck by his side for thirty-eight years just to latch onto whatever is left from a 60s-70s career and the occassional gig. Perhaps Mr Cadwallader had a good job and income, and they live a happy life by sharing equally. Just perhaps.

He has always seemed like such a gentle, wonderful person, especially if you've ever seen him sing. Â Nearly 40 years together! Â Wish them many more.
Great that it could happen and it is great to see so many positive comments on this. I watched him and enjoyed his character in both the Andy Griffith Show and Gomer Pyle USMC when I was growing up.  They don't make such quality shows like that these days. Congrats to them both.
