Al-Jazeera buys Current TV from Al Gore
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Al-Jazeera, the Pan-Arab news channel that has struggled to win space on American cable television, has acquired Current TV, Al Gore confirmed Wednesday.
Gore and his partner Joel Hyatt announced the sale in a statement.
"Current Media was built based on a few key goals: To give voice to those who are not typically heard; to speak truth to power; to provide independent and diverse points of view; and to tell the stories that no one else is telling," Gore and Hyatt said.
"Al-Jazeera has the same goals and, like Current, believes that facts and truth lead to a better understanding of the world around us."
The acquisition could extend Al-Jazeera's reach beyond a few large U.S. metropolitan areas, where some people can watch Al-Jazeera English.

Wow.. people are upset because someone sold their business to another company. So what if that company happens to be Al Jazeerra. It might actually be interesting to watch to get a different view point. I know when I travel the news I see internationally always covers aspects I donât see covered on any the stations I have access to at home.

Do you even know who Al-Jazeera Represents? Are you aware of their affilliation with "big oil" or those who would seek to do u s harm? Do you realize that Mr.Gore was against these people with every breath he took according to his own words? That's okay. You just go on dreaming. I remember a time when someone said that if you're too open minded, your brains will just fall out. I believe that was true even though at the time it seemed insulting. I was young and really didn't know much. So they were right. And I don't mean Right-wing.
Cable television provider Time Warner has now dropped Current TV from its services. Can't have any non-Western viewpoints slipping in!

For everybody that cannot get Aljazeera or have to pay too much, just check out the Al-Jazeera english website, you can read all the articles and watch all the program for free, some good world news

I am not that familiar with Al-Jazeera's broadcasts or content. However, I have been told by several of my peers that Al Jazeera reports are the result of multiple perspective investigative reporting. As Americans, we may be well served having television news programming that is presented in a multilevel format that is not so focused on agitating our Nation's internal differences.
Terrorists? Al-Jazeera is controlled by the emir of Qatar, a country that our American government is very friendly with. Just because a news network gives plain news (even if it's not pro-U.S/Israel every day) its terrorist? You people are ignorant Fox news watchers and i feel sorry for you all.

i must say Al-Jazeera has excellent and informative programs like AJ World and 101 East about all kinds of locations and peoples and issues of the world, stuff that you could never find in Western news and no it is not all about Muslim stuff, I would say AJ is more "international" than "arab" in terms of content than people make it out to be.

I was not aware that giving the same protection to our children as we provide for our money was creating a âpolice stateâ. About 1/3 if the Seattle schools already have some sort of police presents on their campus. Â
